Jean “John” Louis Phillip Joseph L’Ecuyer
In Memory of
Jean “John” Louis Phillip Joseph L’Ecuyer
Peacefully and with dignity on Saturday, January 21st. 2017, Jean “John” Louis Phillip Joseph
L’Ecuyer, of Ridgeville, passed away surrounded by his children and grandchildren in his 84th year.
Beloved husband to the late Elinor “Jean” L’Ecuyer nee (Walters) whom he was married to for 47
years. Loving father to: Lawrence “Larry” (Patty) L’Ecuyer, Kim L’Ecuyer (Michael), Brenda Turner,
Clement “Clay” L’Ecuyer, and Denise (Jim) Poag. Beloved grandfather to: Leighton, Megan, Ocean,
Kristen, Jadedawn, James, Rheanna, Raven, Hailey, Hayden, Taylor, and Morgan and greatgrandfather
to: Kristofer, Sky, Jack and Raphael. John is survived by his three brothers: Adrien (Jean)
L’Ecuyer, Connie (Theresa) L’Ecuyer, Roscoe L’Ecuyer and predeceased by: his sister Angele
Whitmarsh and brother Raymond L’Ecuyer.
Born in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, and raised in Leoville, Saskatchewan, John loved to tell the
many stories of his childhood growing up on the farm. Being a tool setter for General Motors of Canada
for over 38 years, he also tended to his 10-acre hobby farm. At one time, he grew table grapes, raised
livestock, and had a variety of animals he fondly took care of. John loved to keep busy; if it wasn’t
tending to his farm, it was building the newest project in his work shop, digging holes with his latest
machinery, or buying/selling on Kijiji. He also loved to play computer solitaire, watch old movies, buy
the latest deal from Canadian Tire and travelling in his camper. Growing up in our home, there were
many great memories like: the smell of meat pies baking, deep fried donuts, unsuccessful attempts to
make homemade root beer, the cheating games of rummy and Dad pulling out his guitar to sing some of
his favourite songs. One such favourite was “For the Good Times” by Ray Price. Our dad with his
larger-than-life personality, endless storytelling and sense of humour will be sadly missed by his family
and close friends but not forgotten.
Cremation has already taken place. “Celebration of John’s Life” to be held privately at Lampman
Funeral Home.
With Dad’s love for animals, he would have appreciated any donation made to the Humane Society in
lieu of flowers.
“God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be
mourning, nor crying, nor pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4
