MURIEL AUDREY HODGKINS (nee Doan)

HODGKINS, MURIEL AUDREY (Nee Doan) at the Welland Hospital on Wednesday May 10, 2017. Born August 31, 1921 in Port Colborne. Survived by her husband of 73 years, Harold Hodgkins, as well as daughters Linda Badcock (Len), Tricia Reid (Gerry), Janet Hodgkins (David Fowler), Wendy Hodgkins (Peter Blackmore), Karen Durfy (Bill). Also survived by eight grandchildren: Ellen Badcock, Christopher Badcock, Sara Walters, Brooke Reid, Timothy Fowler, Paul Fowler, Meredith Durfy and Gillian Durfy. Also survived by a sister, June Davis. Predeceased by her brother Stuart Doan. Muriel was a primary school teacher and an instructor at Niagara College. She was an active member of the O’Reilly’s Bridge Women’s Institute, and a member of the Wainfleet Historical Society. She was an avid gardener; her goal was to rival the Niagara Parks flower gardens. She was renowned for her baking, especially her pies. She was an excellent seamstress. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed doing daily crossword puzzles. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the LAMPMAN FUNERAL HOME, 724 Canboro Road, Fenwick on Wednesday May 17th at 11:00 A.M. Visiting Tuesday May 16th from 7-9 P.M. Memorial donations may be made to the Wainfleet Public Library or to the Wainfleet Historical Society if desired.
