It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected and peaceful passing of Donald at his home on February 23, 2023 in his 88th year. He is now reunited with his beloved wife Colleen (Haney), 2022. He is survived by his 3 girls Tammy (Jim) Leavoy, Beth (Scott) Henderson and Cindy Sabo. Grandfather to Taylor (Jessica) Leavoy and Clinton (Jennifer) Sabo. Great grandfather to Olivia and Amelia Leavoy. Donald is predeceased by his 12 siblings.
Since moving to the Fonthill area in 1964, Don was with the Volunteer Fire Association for 30 years. He retired from TRW in 1983 and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Don and Colleen loved to travel in their trailer throughout Canada and US and spent 18 years winter vacationing in Florida. Don was a regular member of Canadian Legion Br.613 and truly will be missed for his happy personality and great stories.
You will be missed Dad (and say hi to Mom!).
In keeping with Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A family graveside service followed by a Celebration of Life at the Legion will be held at a future date. Memorial donations in Don’s name made to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
So sad to hear of my Uncle Don’s passing. May he rest in eternal peace. My sincerest sympathies to my cousins and families.
Rest in Peace Uncle Donnie. I’ll miss your sense of humour and keen wit.
To Don’s family. Sorry to hear of the death of your father, I just saw him at the Fonthill
Legion a couple months ago.
The last of the siblings. I last related to Uncle Don when the Sauer family gathered at Patty Sauer’s house in Beamsville to remember my brother Dave ( son of Irene Sabo and Doug Sauer) who died in 2021. Uncle Don and I sat beside each other and reflected upon events of the past. Uncle Don and my brother Dave maintained a connectedness over the past years. Be at peace
On behalf of my parents Phil and Jackie Loranger, I would like to offer my deepest condolences with the passing of your Dad. I have many memories of your Dad and Mom. Irene (Loranger) Sillius
So sorry for your loss
