Clifford Lorne Rice

It is with great sadness that the family of Clifford Lorne Rice announces his peaceful passing on December 25, 2021, at the age of 84. Loving father to Cyndy (Howard) Best, Edward (Dana) Rice, and Lindsay (Abbey) Ferguson. Dear Papa to Robyn (Bryan), James, Stephanie (Jason), Erica, Robbie, Bryce, Shawna, and Tyler. Lorne is survived by his two sisters Pauline (Allan) Robins and Ada Tardiff. He is predeceased by his wife Louise, parents Clifford and Dorothy Rice, and brother-in-law John Tardiff. His family will miss his guidance and will remember the times spent together with him in his garden.

Visitation will be held at Lampman Funeral Home (724 Canboro Road, Fenwick) from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 29th. The service will be at 11am, Thursday, December 30th at the same location.

Memorial donations may be made in Lorne’s name to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Humane Society, or Diabetes Canada.

ROWLAND “ROLLY” GILLAP

Passed away peacefully on December 23rd, 2021 surrounded by loved ones at the age of 96. He is now reunited with his best friend and wife of 67 years Betty (2016).

Loving father of Jim (Bonnie), Howard (Pat), Don (Brenda), Michael (Jane), Steve (Judy) and Tracey (Brian) Moore.

Rolly and Betty shared 15 grandchildren: Edward (Tracy), Bradley (Miriam), Erin (Rob), Rachael (Shawn), Wendy (Justin), Catie (Joe), Logan, Alexis (Matt), Brendan (Ashley), Justin (Sarah), Ryan (Jenn), David, Aislinn (Ramsay) and Cameron (Lindsay). Cherished great-grandpa to 16 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his grandson William.

Rolly was a proud WWII vet and long-time member of the Fonthill Legion. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was very happy to partake in the Memory Project where he discussed his experiences during the war with local students.  Rolly and Betty loved spending summers at the cottage with their family. Rolly maintained his dry sense of humour to the very end. He will be missed dearly by family and friends.

In keeping with Rolly’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held on January 4, 2022 at 11am at Pelham Community Church, 461 Canboro Rd, Fenwick. Rite of Committal to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Dunnville. Proof of vaccination is required and masks are mandatory. For those who cannot attend, you can livestream the service on the link below. Due to the nature of the pandemic, these arrangements may be altered to meet the requirements of any public health restrictions.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

MARIE BARENDS (January 7, 1920-December 9, 2021)

The Lord has come to her and given her peace. Marie went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Dec 9, 2021 at Shalom Manor, Grimsby in her 102nd year.

Marie was predeceased by her husband Pieter (1986), her son Robert (2007), daughter Carol ( 2011) and daughter-in-law Linda (2018).

She is survived by 6 children Pieter, John (Bonnie), Gerda Misdorp, Janna White (Charles), Marie and Ed (Lori Eden), 8 grandchildren Stephen Barends (Arlene), Patricia Gemmell (Jesse), Krista Copeland (Kevin), Brandon Barends (Andria), David Misdorp (Jenn), Lora Lupa, Aaron White (Deanna), Stephanie Lockhart (Don) as well as 11 great-grandchildren.

Marie immigrated from Rotterdam, The Netherlands to Canada in 1954. She spent most of her married life living in Fenwick Ontario, raising her 8 children. She faithfully attended Fenwick United Church and was active in the choir and Women’s groups until she moved into Shalom Manor for care. She participated readily in all the activities provided by Shalom staff. Many thanks go out to all her caregivers at Shalom for their care, attention, kindness and support.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Marie’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 11 am at Bethany Christian Reformed Church, 1040 Balfour St., Fenwick, ON. Covid protocols will be in place.

JACQUELINE BIRMINGHAM

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline Birmingham on November 25, 2021 at the age of 59. Survived by brother Michael and his wife Elizabeth Birmingham. Predeceased by her parents John and Elizabeth Birmingham. Jacqueline graduated from a nursing program and worked as a nurse in Hamilton. She enjoyed horseback riding and later spent much of her time painting. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at Lampman Funeral Home, 724 Canboro Rd, Fenwick, from 1-2pm on Saturday, December 4, 2021 followed by a funeral service at 2pm. A rite of committal will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, 2250 RR 20, Fonthill at 3pm.

John Daboll

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of John Lochlin Daboll on November 28, 2021.

John was in his 85th year, living on his family farm dating back to the late 1700’s in Pelham Township. Throughout his life John was a hardworking farmer while being employed at General Motors. He was incredibly wise and gave true meaning to “if dad can’t fix it nobody can”. John was known as an amazing story teller of town history and took pride in saying “Pelham was as close to heaven as you can get. “ Above all he considered his family and the love we have for each other as his biggest achievement and joy. John is survived by his wife Barbara Anne Daboll (nee Hicks), his children: J. Leigh Daboll, Wade Lochlin Daboll, Jodi Ruth Krah (nee Daboll), their spouses: Briar Campbell (J.L. Daboll ), Diana Giles (W. Daboll) and Winston Krah (J. Krah), his grandchildren: Jennifer Krah (sp. Matt Mayster), Justin Daboll (sp. Jacquelyn) Erik Krah, Jacquelin Daboll (sp. Kevin), Caitlin Candlish (nee Daboll, sp. Dennis), W. Alex Daboll and Jonathon Daboll (Sp. Lisa), his great grandchildren: Capreece, Sterling, Taylor, Grace, Ainsley, Locklin, Caleb, Isla and Lucas and step great grandchildren: Ethan, Dylan, Carley and Audrey.

NANCY MANNS

 

 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Manns on November 9th,2021 at the age of 82, with her daughters by her side. Nancy is now reunited with her husband Ted (2007). Loving mother of Sharon (John), Charlene and Janet (Dave). Beloved grandma of Ashley, Jason, Nathan, Venessa, Tiffany, Taylor, Jordan, Aaron (Krystal) and Travis. Cherished great-grandma of Madison, Quinton, Mariah, Blake, Nevaeh and Bentley. Extended grandma to Michelle, Taylor, Emily and Jack. Nancy is survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family. RUBY PEARL EGERTER

 

 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruby Pearl Egerter on Thursday, November 4th, 2021 at the age of 97. Loving mother of Frances Gifford, Ron, and Beverley Hare. She will be missed by her grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Cherished sister of Sheldon Broughton. Predeceased by her husband Milton Errol and her sons Joseph and Miles.

Patricia Dunham (nee Wiznoski)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce Pat’s peaceful passing at her home on Saturday October 30, 2021. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Bruce Dunham and her son Jeffery Dunham. Loving mother of Derek (Sindy) Dunham of St. Catharines and Cheryl (Bob) Moores of London. Proud grandmother of Addisen Dunham and Miles Dunham. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Mary and Ted Wiznoski and sister Dolores Jewell. Pat grew up in Fenwick and retired from The Royal Bank of Canada. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and many dear friends and relatives. She will be remembered for her strong spirit, caring, sense of humour, and for adding a touch of refinement to any situation. Cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life shall be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation or to a Charity of your choice.
