April 4, 1939 – August 26, 2024
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert Henry Brown on the evening of August 26th, 2024. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Bob was born April 4, 1939 at the family home farm in Fenwick, Ontario. Beloved husband of 54 years to Susanne (Skinner), loving father to Jenny Jensen (Robert), Cliff (Yolanda), and Todd Looby (Tammy’s partner). Robert was a proud grandfather to Ethan, Tanner, Ashley, Emma, Ryan, Hillary and Danielle. Great grandfather to Adelina and Rhea. Bob is survived by his brother Lanny, sister Elizabeth (Carl) Porritt and brother-in-law Thomas Skinner along with many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughter Tammy (May 20, 2020), brother Richard (March 16, 2021), sister-in-law Rosanne Skinner (January 15, 2023) and sister-in-law Audrey Brown (August 14, 2024).
Bob was well known and respected in the Holstein Industry, he had an eye for great cows, which took him around the world to judge Holstein shows. He served as President of Holstein Ontario and Western Ontario Breeders. A 4th generation farmer on the family farm in Pelham, he incorporated Downalane Farms in the 1960’s and made it a world-renowned farm with visitors from around the world attending yearly. More recently he was the Recipient of the Century of Holsteins 2021. He loved his Buffalo Sabres and was a season ticket holder for almost 30 years. After selling the family farm Bob became an avid gardener and continued his love of the outdoors. Grandpa loved watching his grandkids play hockey and other sports.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lampman Funeral Home in Fenwick.
Visitation is at 9am at Fenwick United Church on Saturday, August 31st, 2024 with a service to follow at 10am, along with interment at Hillside Cemetery, Ridgeville.

So sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. I always enjoyed visiting his farm as a veterinarian. He will certainly be missed
Our deepest sympathies to the family at this difficult time. Bob was a special person whom I got to know very well during his time on the board at WOBI. We travelled together for years and oh the stories I could tell. Cherish all those memories of “Downalne” Bob as he was so well known. 🙏🥲

Dear Susanne, Jenny, Cliff, Todd and families, I was saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. He was a great guy and he fought a good fight. Bob and my late husband Don were dairy buddies, both involved with Holsteins. I will miss seeing you two at the Royal. So sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. He was a very pleasant fellow student at PDHS and a loving dad to his kids whom I had he distinct pleasure of teaching as they began their school years in my kindergarten class. God speed Bob and God’s comfort to your sweet Sue and your family.
Such sad news. Bob was a pillar in the Holstein and farming communities.

We have so many years of fond memories of the “hockey” years with Mr. Brown & the family, whether at the arena or their home. He loved watching his “boys” play hockey, and cheer them on, he was so proud. May all the great memories fill the void and sadness in your hearts, that you’re all feeling today. It was with great sadness that we felt upon learning of Bob’s passing. Over the many years we knew him, there were many fun times and times we admired his many abilities. In later years we didn’t have the opportunity to spend time with Bob and Sue but thought of them often . We send our condolences and hope the memories of the good times and Bob’ s many accomplishments give you comfort.
