Freure Shirley
The Freure family sadly announces the passing of Shirley Ramona Freure nee Macdonald (daughter of Ellen and Gordon Macdonald) peacefully on Monday June 11th at Lookout Ridge in Fonthill. She was in her 90th year. Shirley will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 71 years Gerald Freure. Devoted and loving mother of Barbara (Bryan), Ralph (Nancy), Robert, Brenda (Bruce), Beverly (Michael) and Bette (Bill). Wonderful proud Grandmother of Brandon (Angela) Dove, Chris (Lisa), and Tom (Katie) Freure, Erin and Derek (Nicole) Kearney, Rebecca (Elliott) Miller and Michael Richards. Great Grandmother to Ayla and Silas, Nathan, Maddie and Anna, Juliette, Adam, Mark and Eleanor, and Callum.Survived by sister Ann Roth, brother Bill Macdonald and sister in law Joan (Joe) Harbell. Predeceased by Helen, Fern, Bruce and Graham. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Shirley was an active member of Fenwick and Wellandport United Churches and the UCW. She was very involved in the community and always had a kind word for everyone. She was an avid cook and gardener, she was the Chief Operating Officer of Freurehaven Farms and was devoted to her family all her life. Respecting Shirleys wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held at Fenwick United Church on Monday June 18th at 11:00 A.M. Lunch to follow at the church. Visitation will take place at the LAMPMAN FUNERAL HOME 724 Canboro Road, Fenwick on Sunday June 17th from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Private family inurnment at a later date. The family would like to thank all the staff at Lookout Ridge for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers a donation to the charity of ones choice would be appreciated by the family.
Our deepest condolences to Bette and family on the passing of your mother. Back in the 80’s Shirley and Gerald opened their home for the BDSS bands to have a social evening at the farm and their kindness, patience and sense of humour is remembered with fondness. Bless you all with peace and sweet memories.
